Q: What will paddlers see?
A: Tour participants will have a great vantage point to appreciate the southern Avalon’s spectacular coastline, waterfalls and caves. There are also many types of seasonal wildlife as well as icebergs which can be frequently seen.
Q: Will I see icebergs and whales?
Though we don’t guarantee you’ll see icebergs or whales on your tour, the best time to see them is in early summer (June to early July). We also found a neat website that you might be interested in if you are a berg fan. Click Here to find an iceberg near you. Whales and puffins are a common occurrence on tour and are a sight to see.
Throughout the summer expect to see sea birds such as the Atlantic Puffin, Leach’s Storm Petrel and many other species.
Q: Can I do this? How safe is it?
A:Yes, most of our kayak tour customers have little or no experience. We provide all the necessary training and instruction needed to have an enjoyable and safe experience. We also paddle in double sea kayaks (which are exceptionally stable) and ensure that if someone is anxious or hesitant they are paired up with a stronger paddler or guide.
Q: Can you accommodate children?
A: Yes, we can accommodate children (we can supply kid’s equipment). There is no set age for kids to be able to go out on a tour.
If you have a parent or caregiver who is inquiring about bringing a child on a tour, it is best to ask a few questions before making the booking:
Is the child going to be comfortable in being a Kayak for 2.5 hours?
Is the Child confident in the water?
Is the parent or caregiver a confident or experienced paddler able to control the double kayak by themselves if needed?
It may be possible to pair the child with a guide. Inquire before booking as an extra guide may be needed.
